My thoughts on the ethics session: Perception is everything.

The much heralded, "Ethics" special session can be perceived as a success. In reality not much was changed in our existing ethics laws save; $50 limit on meals for legislators, removing the ethics board as the arbiter of ethics charges and the removal of free tickets to events for legislators.

Perception, by the outside world, will bring many accolades and potentially a boon in business activity for Louisiana.

I trust our legislators and Governor Jindal will find a way to finance the investigation of the real scofflaws on ethics and not waste countless reams of paper and man hours being a hall monitor.

If it brings business to Louisiana and the perception that we are a straight up state, then the "ethics" session is a roaring success.
